TRAINING, EDUCATION, & SAFETY

WAYS/METHODS WE PROVIDE TRAINING

PRE-APPRENTICESHIP (PRE-JOB)

New BAC apprentices receive critical job preparation skills through IMTEF pre-job training programs. Along with craft-specific technical and hands-on training, they learn health, safety and workplace skills. When apprentices complete the program, they are ready to be employed and contribute on the jobsite.

APPRENTICESHIP

Skilled BAC craftworkers begin their careers as apprentices through a Joint Apprentice and Training Committee (JATC). Apprenticeships typically last 3–4 years, during which apprentices receive classroom, shop, and on-the-job-training. Much of this training is provided at our local training centers, as well as the National Training Center.

RELATED TRAINING INSTUCTION (RTI)

Classroom and lab practical training is held at the Warren Training Center.  The classroom setting allows Apprentices to pay more attention to the activities and projects.  Thus, making them more confident when returning back to the job site.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

IMTEF delivers health and safety training on many levels, from apprentices to BAC journeyworkers. A broad variety of required OSHA courses are offered at our training center.

CERTIFICATIONS / SPECIALTY / CROSS-CRAFT

IMTEF also accommodates specific requests for certifications, cross training, upgrade training and other forms of continuing education our training center. We are equipped and ready to meet the needs of BAC members throughout their working career.
